Biography
I am an experienced and accredited counsellor working with individuals and couples, in addition to which I have created and run a course called ‘Sustaining Love after falling in love’.
My deeply held belief is that we all know what makes us happy and what life we want to lead. My passion is in enabling my clients to move towards this.
Individual counselling
Sometimes life presents us with challenges and crisis which are difficult to face alone or even with friends and family. Whatever your current concern, I may be able to help you find a way of resolving it, by giving you the opportunity to talk to someone who is trained to listen, in a confidential setting.
My role as a counsellor is not to judge, give advice or make decisions for you but rather to help you understand what you feel and why. Then you can make choices for a better life.
Couples Counselling
If you are experiencing difficulty in your relationship and would like to understand why this has happened, couples counselling gives partners the opportunity to talk and listen to one another openly and effectively. We explore the dynamics of your relationship and also how unfinished issues from the past may influence the present. When problems occur in a relationship, communication can shut down and with it, the best hope of finding a solution.
With a compassionate, non-judgemental facilitator present, partners are often able to do just this, by discussing issues or problems that had previously felt too difficult or unsafe.
My purpose is to support both people as they look for creative, mutually beneficial solutions.
Fees for couples are £55 for a 60 minute session.
Sustaining Love after falling in love
This course will support you to build a relationship based on mutual respect and an equal balance of power. It’s about providing tools to help deal with the dangers – both apparent and hidden. It is designed to create a safe place for you both to explore ways to sustain and deepen the love you feel for each other, in order to deal with your differences in a caring and constructive way to make love last.
About me
My interest in counselling stemmed from a period of personal counselling which was of great help to me at a challenging time in my life.
I was born and grew up in Sweden, where I trained as a teacher. I moved to England nearly forty years ago but have since also lived and worked in other countries, mainly in the Middle and East Asia.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred)
Apart from my main training with BCPC I have further training in:
- Couples counselling
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
- Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
- Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Where I work
I see all my clients and groups in a purpose built studio. This big, light room makes it a very peaceful environment for them to deal with their issues or problems, or to learn more about relationships. It has a separate entrance which makes the sessions even more private. There is parking.
